The Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra was formed in 1993, and began working with the city's "Tor Vergata" University where it currently holds its concerts. The orchestra is regularly invited to take part in the seasons of the Rome Philharmonic Academy and the Roman Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti.
Over the years it has worked with performers such as Mariella Devia, Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Michael Nyman, Quincey Jones, Roger Waters, Dulce Pontes, Michael Bolton, Andrea Bocelli, Nicola Piovani, Luis Bacalov, Gianni Ferrio, Claudio Baglioni and Renato Zero.
For 12 years, the orchestra has worked on a regular basis with Ennio Morricone, giving performances in the world's most prestigious concert halls including the Lingotto Auditorium (Turin), the Greek Theatre (Taormina), Teatro Massimo (Palermo), Nuovo Piccolo Teatro and Mazda Palace (Milan), the Verona Arena, Piazza del Quirinale, Piazza del Campidoglio, Basilica Ara Coeli, Auditorium Parco della Musica, Auditorium Conciliazione (Rome), the Barbican Centre and Royal Albert Hall (London), the Palais des Congrès (Paris), the International Forum (Tokyo), Festival Hall (Osaka), the Herodes Atticus Amphitheatre in Athens, the UN Headquarters and Radio City Hall in New York and the Olympic Gymnasium in Seoul. With Maestro Morricone, the orchestra has also recorded "absolute music", film and television soundtracks, and an extensive collection of recordings for EMI, SONY and Universal.
